Pay transparency is no longer just an HR talking point. It is quickly becoming a business requirement. Many states now require salary ranges in job postings, and more are adding similar laws every year. The continued expansion of these laws means it is not a matter of if your company will need to comply, but when (SHRM, May 27, 2025).
Even with these changes, some leaders still resist. They worry about how candidates, competitors, and employees will react. After years of posting thousands of jobs with pay ranges, I have seen which fears are real and which are not.
